MY COLLABORATIVE EXPERIENCES

Creating an Online Store Using TikTok Affiliate

This project was a collaborative experiment between several individuals to utilize TikTok's affiliate program as a source of income and task completion. The project consisted of four people: Naflah, Via, Agnes, and myself. The initial step of this experiment was creating TikTok accounts and registering accounts on the TikTok Seller app. TikTok Seller directly connected the accounts to the TikTok app, and the store appeared on TikTok Shop. For products, we took items from various stores on TikTok Shop and resold them through the accounts we created. For content creation, we divided it systematically, with each person uploading content once every two days on a rotating basis. Product selection was free within the women's fashion category. In this experiment, everyone in the team played the role of content creator and product manager, collaborating to promote products using TikTok's affiliate feature. This collaborative experiment also aimed to create engaging TikTok content while promoting affiliate products.

After a few weeks, we had started running the collaborative experiment. Using creative content strategies and marketing tactics, the team encountered obstacles with unsatisfactory sales. The content produced was not consistent, and some team members felt disappointed because the results did not meet expectations.

We tried to improve by selecting products using Google Trends. As days passed, it turned out that the content we created did not attract the audience's attention, and we felt that the TikTok algorithm had changed, causing a drastic decrease in the number of viewers. If this situation continued, it would cause the collaborative experiment to fail and not generate profits. Questions arose about whether to change the product category, make the content more unique, or stick with the initial strategy.

After deliberation and seeking advice from several parties, we decided to stick with the product category. We improved the image quality in our content. For product selection, we changed our approach by searching for best-selling items in the TikTok Shop search column. We also reminded each other to be consistent in uploading content as agreed upon at the beginning. We encouraged mutual trust and support among team members.

After implementing these changes, day by day, we began to experience improvements in team performance. The content became more consistent, and the level of cooperation increased. Affiliate income started to develop with the sale of several products we offered, and the team achieved its first target. Thus, our collaborative experiment succeeded and generated appropriate profits.

Although initially facing several challenges, the team had to remain consistent in uploading content and eventually saw positive results. The team's ability to adjust strategies, such as changing how to select products, demonstrated the importance of adapting to algorithm changes and market trends. The decision to deliberate and seek advice when dealing with problems showed the importance of teamwork in overcoming challenges. Although there were initially no sales, patience and continuous improvement eventually brought positive results. This experience showed that in the world of e-commerce and social media, continuous learning and adjustment must be carried out.
